Hi, I’m JMD Reid, a fantasy indie author working on my third fantasy series, What Masks Hide. I have published the widely praised The Storm Below Series and a releasing my second series, Secret of the Jewels.
For my day job, I’m a ghostwriter. It gives me great deal of freedom to work on my fantasy. It’s my passion, and I hope that will shine through.
I have a lot of stories in my head and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you.
Want to read my works, you can find them in ebook and print form on Amazon!
Good luck getting your stuff published! My wife is also trying to get her literary fiction novel out there… it’s a tough slog, but persistence matters. Check out her Art of Storytelling blog at bernicelandry.com/blog. Never give up! In the great stories that really matter, the hero keeps going even though things look bleak… that’s one of my lessons from Professor Tolkien!
Thanks for the encouragement. Good luck to your wife!
Good to know you, JMD. A great site that I now look forward to reading more fully. Good luck with your writing, and if you need a tip at all, here’s mine for what it’s worth: drop the word ‘aspiring’. You’re a writer. If you want to know my full view on that check out the following blog-post: https://sally-jenkins.com/2016/01/18/one-writers-journey/
Enjoy your own journey.
Thanks, Steve. Yeah, my bio is a little out of date.
hey! So are you the same guy that did this: http://rereid.blogspot.ro/2012/06/rereid-of-darkness-that-comes-before.html
I am reading this and I am blown away! will you ever finish the series? I honestly think your blog posts doubled my enjoyment of the series…so many things I didn’t see… I was deceived!
Yes, that is in fact me. I have continued it here on this blog. I’ve reuploaded the older posts, cleaned up the grammar, updated my thoughts, and I should be posting my reread of the final chapter come this Sunday.
Well, I must thank you for this again! I know making these will never bring you any fame really…it’s really obscure stuff and the people who appreciate it are few in number.
Still. I just started rereading the series and I was looking for your old blog, that’s how I got here. I must say, I am really excited! I hope you will continue and I hope one day you will finish it, this is quality stuff.
Please don’t hurry! I expect to read this again 20 years from now on my n’th reread. Curious how how I will see the series then…Wish you all the best!
I do have plans to continue, but first I’m going to do a different book before starting The Warrior Prophet.
I read some of your short stories and their quite cool, similar to the Steven Erickson, I say go for it. You deserve to get your work out there.
Check my short stories here, would like to have a discussion with you.
Thanks Aaron. Steven Erickson, damn. Love Malazan Book of the Fallen. I will do my best to read your short stories. I’m in final editing pass on my novel before I ship it off to my editor.

I am nearly finished The Storm Below series, which I have greatly enjoyed and would love to buy for my nephew who lives in the US (I am in Europe). Can you tell me where i can get hold of the books in the US, either paperback or e-book? Thanks

Howdy there, I was browsing a few sites looking for a good series to read and came across your Shadows of the Dragon series. I saw the first three books in a set so bought the Ebook series from amazon. Unfortunately, this was awhile ago and work had picked up to an excruciating tempo as I’m a Paramedic/SAR member of a Rescue Squad in the critical disaster response field. I had a ton of time banked so I chose to use some for the holidays and the month of January and went to catch up on some reading. I clicked your series and started reading. To say I was enthralled would be an understatement, I spent the next 24 hours reading books one and two so engrossed in the story. While making dinner this evening and finishing book three I ordered the rest of the series, The world building and characters just draw you in and have a reader so invested in finding out how it all plays out. I have zero complaints or critiques to offer as first I’m not a writer by trade, and as a reader find the storys to be AMAZING. I’ve only read a few such series in the past, the Division 19 series is one of my favorites, which are geared towards a much younger audience. Your stories are leaps and bounds ahead of them in my opinion . As soon as I’m finished I’ll be checking out more of your work. Thank you for writing these stories and I hope you continue to do so.
Well, I am glad you enjoyed my work. Good luck on your job. I hope the story has a satisfying conclusion.
